Your first appointment is scheduled for 1.5 hours and primarily focuses on getting to know you better. We will review our clinic policies and procedures, limits of confidentiality, and then ask you a lot of questions! We will ask about your concerns, your background, and what you hope to gain from therapy. There's no need to prepare for the "right" things to say or have everything figured out before you get here. We actually have a whole list of questions to help guide our conversation. Then we'll make a mini game-plan to help determine what our next steps might look like.

That's completely understandable and normal! Meeting someone new and talking about very personal things can definitely feel unfamiliar or even scary at first. It's okay to be nervous or even unsure about what to say. Our job is to create the most comfortable and supportive space we can to let you know you're in good hands. All of our therapists even have multiple comfort items like pillows, blankets, stuffies, and fidgets, in their offices to help if needed!Reaching out for help and going to that first appointment is often the hardest. Once you get that part done, it typically gets easier from there😊

Yes - there will be various consent forms and general assessments to complete prior to your first appointment. Our front office staff will ensure you have an online client portal created and are sent the appropriate forms. To ensure we follow the necessary state requirements, we must have all paperwork completed in the client portal prior to your first appointment. If paperwork is not completed by the necessary time requirements, we will need to reschedule your first appointment.

Absolutely! We provide telehealth services for those who prefer or need remote sessions. Our secure and user-friendly platform ensures you receive the same compassionate care as you would in person.

Mental health care is available at different levels depending on how much support a person needs. We offer outpatient treatment, meant for "mild to moderate" conditions or presenting concerns. Clients live at home and attend scheduled therapy sessions, often once a week or once every other week depending on their individual needs. There are also additional levels of care that provide more support than traditional outpatient therapy. Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) or partial hospitalization programs (PHP) generally involve treatment for several hours at a time, multiple days a week as well as the inclusion of group therapy, family involvement, and other case management services. Inpatient treatment is designed for more severe mental health needs and involves staying at a treatment facility focused on 24/7 care and stabilization. We can talk with you about the services we provide and help determine if outpatient therapy is appropriate. If your needs are outside the scope of our practice, we can discuss options for a higher level of care and additional resources.

You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. People come to therapy for many different reasons such as navigating anxiety, depression, stress, relationships, life changes, or simply to have a safe place to talk, process emotions/experiences, and better understand themselves. For children and adolescents, therapy can also provide support with emotions, behavior, school, friendships, and navigating general stress. When you contact us, we will learn a little about what you're looking for and help determine which therapist may be a good fit. Sometimes finding the right fit takes time. Sometimes our therapists may not be able to offer a specific service or intervention you are looking for or need. We encourage open communication with your therapist about what is, or isn't, working. We will also be open and honest about our areas of expertise and what services or approaches may best fit your needs. There is no universal timeline for therapy. Some people come for support with a specific concern for a shorter period of time, others find ongoing therapy helpful for a longer period of time. It's hard to know for sure. We will work with you to identify goals, check in on your progress, and discuss when it may be appropriate to reduce the frequency sessions or conclude therapy. You may have heard before that therapy is hard work. We believe this is true. Therapy takes vulnerability, reflection, commitment, consistency, patience, dedication, trying new approaches, and practicing skills outside of sessions.
